Our Floor Panel …
Our floor panels are based on a 50 cm carpet tile, supported with four independent pedestals that conform to any sub-floor, providing a stable and quiet floor surface. The pedestals are molded using a strength re-enforced polycarbonate resin material that is PVC free and 100% recyclable. The entire panel has been designed and tested to meet one of highest load bearing results in accordance with CISCA standards and can support up to 50,000 lbs. per square foot. Our panels, weighing approximately 7 lbs. and installed without connection to the sub-floor or each other, provide easy access to the cables or relocation of the outlets.
Our Outlets …
The Powerflor universal grommet is factory installed into the panel and can be placed in any combination of the four panel quadrants. This allows for the correlating electrical or communication components per specification, to be located as designed. Standard outlets include power, communication or voice connections. And most proprietary connectors can be accommodated in our grommets. The finished outlet is recessed into the floor surface and is protected by a grommet lid. This not only cleans up the overall look of the floor but protects the outlets when not in use.
Specialty Outlets
Often times an application will need more then just phone, power or data in the floor. In these applications Powerflor also offers a variety of specialty outlets in the floor. You can place microphone connections, speaker connections, monitor connections, and fiber optic connections. Powerflor also offers a spcialty panel for outlets requiring a GPON unit. Specailty outlets can be added to any standard Powerflor panel.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What exactly is PowerFlor and how is it different from traditional flooring?
PowerFlor is a high-performance flooring system designed for durability, moisture resistance, and structural reinforcement. Unlike standard tile, wood, or laminate flooring that primarily focuses on surface appearance, PowerFlor emphasizes long-term structural integrity and performance. It is engineered to handle stress, weight, and environmental exposure more effectively than conventional flooring materials, making it especially valuable in demanding residential, commercial, or industrial settings.
Is PowerFlor just a coating or a full flooring system?
PowerFlor is more than a surface coating. It functions as a comprehensive flooring solution that enhances the underlying substrate while providing a finished surface. Some customers assume it is similar to paint or a simple epoxy overlay, but it is typically installed as a reinforced system designed for structural strength, durability, and long-term wear resistance.
Where is PowerFlor typically used?
PowerFlor can be used in residential garages, basements, commercial facilities, warehouses, and high-traffic environments. In areas like Gaithersburg, Maryland, where seasonal moisture and temperature shifts occur, durable flooring systems help prevent cracking, peeling, or water damage. Its adaptability makes it suitable for both aesthetic and functional applications.
How does PowerFlor handle moisture and humidity?
Moisture resistance is one of PowerFlor’s key benefits. Traditional flooring materials can warp, buckle, or develop mold when exposed to moisture. PowerFlor systems are designed to resist water intrusion and reduce the risk of surface damage. Proper preparation of the subfloor is essential to maximize moisture protection and ensure long-term performance.
Is PowerFlor durable enough for heavy equipment or vehicles?
Yes, one of the core advantages of PowerFlor is its load-bearing strength. It is engineered to withstand heavy equipment, vehicle traffic, and repeated impact. Unlike standard flooring that may chip or crack under pressure, PowerFlor systems are designed for structural resilience, making them suitable for garages and commercial settings.
How long does PowerFlor last?
Longevity depends on installation quality, usage level, and maintenance. When professionally installed and properly maintained, PowerFlor can last significantly longer than many traditional flooring options. Unlike materials that require frequent replacement, PowerFlor focuses on long-term durability, reducing lifecycle costs.
Is the installation process disruptive?
Installation typically involves surface preparation, which may include grinding or cleaning the existing substrate. While there may be temporary disruption during installation, proper planning minimizes downtime. Professional installers ensure curing times are respected to achieve maximum performance.
Does PowerFlor require extensive maintenance?
One of its hidden benefits is low maintenance. Unlike grout lines that collect dirt or wood surfaces that require refinishing, PowerFlor systems are generally easy to clean. Routine sweeping and occasional mopping are usually sufficient to maintain appearance and functionality.
Is PowerFlor slip-resistant?
Slip resistance depends on finish options and surface texture. Many installations include textured finishes to improve traction, particularly in garages or commercial spaces. Discussing slip-resistance needs during consultation ensures safety requirements are addressed properly.
Can PowerFlor improve the appearance of my space?
Yes, PowerFlor combines durability with customizable design options. Many customers are surprised that high-performance flooring can also be visually appealing. Various finishes and textures allow for both functional and aesthetic enhancement of a space.
